🌸 SMCR Women in Science Excellence Award
The SMCR Women in Science Excellence Award honors outstanding women researchers, educators, and innovators who have demonstrated exceptional achievements and leadership in Mathematics, Computational Science, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, and allied disciplines.
This award aims to empower women in science, recognize their excellence, and inspire greater participation in academic and professional research.
There will be two awards each year:
| 👩🏫 One for Assistant Professors / Early Career Faculty |
| 👩🔬 One for Current Ph.D. Research Scholars / Postdoctoral Fellows actively pursuing research |
Eligibility
| Open exclusively to women researchers who are Assistant Professors, Research Associates, Research Scholars, Postdoctoral Fellows, or Ph.D. holders in Mathematics, Computational Science, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, and allied disciplines. |
| Candidates must be below 40 years of age as on 31st December of the award year. |
| Applicants must hold Lifetime Membership of SMCR before applying. |
Evaluation Parameters
| Research Publications – Quality and quantity of SCI/SCOPUS indexed publications, emphasizing Q1/Q2 impact and citations. |
| Research Projects & Grants – Experience as PI, Co-PI, or collaborator in externally funded projects. |
| Innovation & Patents – Patents filed/granted, or demonstrated impactful innovations. |
| Scientific Contributions – Participation in seminars, workshops, conferences, presentations, and invited talks. |
| Awards & Recognitions – National/international fellowships, honors, or distinctions. |
| Leadership & Mentoring – Contributions to women empowerment, mentorship roles, and initiatives promoting gender inclusion. |
Award Benefits
| Feature in the SMCR Annual Report and Official Website. |
| Opportunities to participate as mentors, resource persons, and panelists in SMCR events and publications. |
General Guidelines
| The award is open exclusively to Life Members of SMCR. |
| There is no application fee for applying for the awards. The awards will be given purely based on the evaluation parameters as decided by the Selection Committee. |
| Awardees receive a Recognition Certificate and are featured in the SMCR Annual Report and Website. |
Application Procedure
| Obtain Lifetime Membership of SMCR before applying. |
| Complete the online Google Form with accurate details. |
| Upload all required supporting documents (CV, publication list, patents, awards, etc.). |
| Incomplete or inaccurate applications will not be accepted. |
Terms & Conditions
| Awards are open only to Life Members of SMCR. |
| Each candidate may apply for only one award per year. |
| Applications must be submitted before the deadline. |
| No queries or correspondence regarding the selection process will be entertained. |
| Incomplete applications will not be accepted. |
| If eligibility criteria are not fully met, the candidate may be considered for a more suitable category, with consent. |
| False or misleading information will result in disqualification and possible revocation of awards. |
| The decision of SMCR shall be final and binding; the Society may withhold or modify awards without explanation. |
